Objectives: To determine current evidence-based medicine\udskills and practice among trainees.\udDesign: Questionnaire study.\udSetting: Electronic survey was sent to all obstetrics and\udgynaecology trainees in East Midlands South Deanery, and\udresponses collected were anonymous.\udParticipants: All obstetrics and gynaecology trainees in East\udMidland South Deanery.\udMain outcome measures: Self-reported attitude, skills and\udknowledge in various components of evidence-based\udmedicine.\udResults: 69 trainees were included in the study of which 35\udresponded. Among all respondents, almost 72% of trainees\uduse non-evidence-based methods to find answers for their\udclinical questions, whereas only 18% use appropriate evidence-based\udmedicine practice for such queries. Just 35%\udof trainees have minimum skills of literature searching.\udMost of the trainees struggle to understand various components\udof evidence-based medicine. Nearly 80% of trainees\uddo not have formal education or training with regard\udto evidence-based medicine.\udConclusions: This study highlights the inadequacy of evidence-based\udmedicine skills among trainees and urges that\udevidence-based medicine be incorporated in formal training\udalong with specialty study modules.
